About UKSCN
The vision and pillars of the UKSCN
The vision of the UK Stem Cell Network (UKSCN) is to further accelerate the UK’s momentum in stem cell research by cultivating a culture of innovation, collaboration, and growth which will facilitate talent recruitment and retention. To deliver this vision, our strategy is built upon three key pillars:
- Advancing fundamental stem cell science and translation of stem cell-based applications by fostering communication and collaboration between UK scientists, companies, clinicians and regional groups:
- The UKSCN will provide a platform for scientists from academia, industry and at the clinical interface to disseminate findings, exchange ideas, expertise and resources, thus facilitating new collaborations and enabling innovation.
- It will facilitate and promote the development of emerging clinical trials and other stem cell goals through strategic networking with industry and funders.
- It will proactively engage other stakeholders, such as learned societies, regulatory bodies as well as medical and manufacturing groups.
- Capacity building and training:
- The UKSCN will grow and connect the UK stem cell community- essential to the success of the stem cell community
- It will develop mentoring and networking opportunities to build and nurture UK-based Early Career Researchers (ECRs), Research Technical Professionals and other allied sector professionals.
- It will attract individuals from other fields to expand interdisciplinary stem cell science.
- Engagement with policy makers, funders and the public
- The UKSCN will serve as a central and visible point of contact for policy makers, funders, ethicists and the public.
- As a network of networks, the UKSCN will develop and also share best practises from and with active regional networks to widen impact and help to establish national standards and practises
